Jackie's Journey (Part 3)

Jackie's vet called me this morning.  The results finally came back and they showed that she has an advanced stage 2-3 cancer with a 50/50 chance of it returning quickly and spreading to her organs.  The vet said it's a "wishy washy" guess of her life expectancy.  She'll most likely have more bumps that are mast cell cancer tumors, but the good news is that she doesn't have weeks to life.  They don't know if it'll spread to her lymph nodes and we have to get her lungs x-rayed every few months.  Her blood work showed that she has active cancer cells and mast cell cancer is damn aggressive.  Jesse and I talked about it today, and we'll have every bump removed immediately as long as it's healthy for her.  We're just happy that she's not going anywhere for the next little while.

She still sprints around the house in the evenings and she's acting like herself.  It seems that she's gotten over the trauma of losing Claire and she's actually eating her food again.  I'm pretty certain that she'll last another 25 years because she's Jacqueline.  She's a total trooper.  She's a riot!  I'd sell my soul for her if it meant prolonging her life.

Isn't that just hilarious how little dogs just tear through the house sometimes? Quiero does that, back and forth from living room, through kitchen, to bedroom and back again. It always cracks me up.
Seriously, though, glad to hear she's feeling/acting well, and will most certainly keep racing through your house for ages to come.
