What a total rip off!

I sew dog collars. I haven't been making them lately, but I do make damn cute collars at a very reasonable price. I started making them for Jacqueline because I didn't want to spend $38 on something that I could make better myself.

I found a site that some chick has and she obviously doesn't specialize in dog collars, the bitch specializes in ripping people off! The collar below is the one she makes and sells for $40.
And the collar below is the one I make for $12! Do you see the similarities?! It's the same damn fabric and I KNOW the evil slut bought it at JoAnn's for $6 a yard!

I'm pissed! Can you tell?! I hate when people get ripped off!

The library

Jesse has an entire week off! Maybe even two weeks! His contract finished, so he decided to take some time off to hang out with Maximus. It's well deserved because after his time off, he'll be working 6 days a week and about 75 miles away. We're not sure if he'll even be able to come home every night. Rats. But we love having him home and each day feels like a Saturday!
Yesterday, Handsomer wanted to show Jesse the cool stuff at the library. We even ran into William Shatner.

Look how little he is! I mean, when he's next to kids his own age, he looks tall. But when he's running around with 2 year olds, he looks so tiny.

The cyst returns...

Less than a year ago, my canine daughter Jacqueline had a cancerous bump on her chest removed. She's getting old and acting that way. She was oddly clingy last night, so I picked her up and started to pet her until I realized she has another bump in the exact same spot! WHY?! I'm going to take her to see her veterinarian, but I'm scared to because of the possibility of bad news.

Chain restaurants suck!

We were spoiled back in Salt Lake/Park City with the restaurants. I miss Aristos, Cafe Rio, Red Iguana, Rivers (now closed), The Oyster Bar, Cafe Fresco, Riverhorse, Tuscany, Ichiban, Red Rock, Porcupine, Chimayo, Grappa, Cedars of Lebanon, etc. Mmm...anyway, our options here SUCK. You have the choice of bar food or chain restaurants. We end up going out to a sports bar that has decent beer and tasty BLT sandwiches about once a week. Max, on the other hand, dines on this.

Baby belts ARE real!

I've looked for a baby belt since Maximus was 3 months old. His tiny waist prohibits him from wearing his current size, but his long legs need his current size or the size above. After having really long legs my entire life, I will never let my kid wear "high waters" or "floods". No one makes baby belts because they're totally dangerous. Yeah, if you let your kid play with the belt while it's not on his waist! This thing is secure! I know how to make D-ring belts myself, so I was to the point of sewing him one. But tonight after dinner, we stopped by the mall and Jesse found a tiny size in the little boys section. It fits! Do you know what this means?! Maximus Lane Tiny Waist Sherwood can now wear all 28 pairs of pants he owns!

The picture above is really a picture of him pulling the "slippery fish" when he wants out of our grasp.

This is Ashlie. Maximus loooooooves Ashley. I think he looks at her like a girlfriend (sorry Lennon, but you're still #1) because he gives he more kisses and hugs than Jesse and I get in a month.

What's for dinner?

This!
I took a basic lasagna recipe and made it cool.
Definition of cool: organic ingredients, no white flour, zero sugars or that nasty ass high fructose corn syrup that's in 98% of bottled spaghetti sauces and it's with lasagna noodles that are made with artichoke flour.
Here's a few of the things used in this easy, easy dinner.
You can make this with meat or the wannabe meat from Morningstar Farms. I can't wait to move back to Salt Lake so I can host a vegetarian feast once a week for Starr and Mike. Jesse can't taste when I switch ground beef for Morningstar Farms and I looooove cooking this way. I love taking ordinary, unhealthy recipes and making them into something not only good for you, but totally delicious. Yum-o!

Socializing

I joined an online group of mothers because I'm dying here without any of my friends. And I hate that Max isn't around any other kids ever. Anyway, I was communicating with another mom and she informed me about the local library and the things they offer young kids. I've never been in the kids section at the library, so I wondered how fun it'd be for Maximus.

We went there this morning and...oh my god. It was perfect for Max, although he was the youngest there. All the other kids were at least 14 months, but Max being 11 months, was their same height and he could walk and play just as well. A librarian got up and read a story about bears and she even had Max's complete attention. She couldn't get over at how well he focused during the story and I couldn't either! I even broke down and let Maximus eat a few of the Teddy Grahams the librarian was handing out. I cringed, but hell, he can have sugar maybe on holidays and at the library. Maybe.

After the story, all the kids just played. The kids section at the library was separate and was just as big as the rest of the library. I was so impressed. They had a gigantic railroad with trains, a decent sized kids kitchen, about 15 stuffed animals that were at least 5 feet tall, a wall of puzzles, toys and a room that was like a mini Gymboree. Max was such a friend to all the other kids. He's really into giving Jesse and I hugs and he offers the dogs hugs as well. The other parents were laughing at how Maximus walked up to other kids and gave them hugs. One kid took Max's dodo out of his mouth and put it in his. We threw that one away.

It was so nice to hang out and talk with other moms. Not only do I miss my friends back in Salt Lake, I miss talking to my friends who are also parents. And I miss the things a big city has to offer. As you can tell, I can't wait to move back and we finally are! I think Max and I will go to the library at least twice a week and I'm actually going to join the M.O.P.S. here. (Mothers of PreSchoolers) They meet every Friday at 9am and it's for kids who are as young as Max. Why not? It's not like socializing yourself and your kid is a bad thing. I'm all about it now. It's cool that he's the age where he likes to be around other kids to play.

Snot, broccoli and a hurt

Maximus has a cold. And now I have it! The poor little boy can't breathe with his dodo in his mouth. He sounds like a bulldog when he sleeps.
We eat steamed broccoli a lot with dinner. Max loves it, but last night he decided to store it in his neck.
He got a little hurt on his head somehow. We think he picked up a packaged HDMI cable and the box scratched his head. He never cried because he's one tough little kid.

Cutest picture ever!

My two handsome men. I love them.
