Really?

We were at Best Buy today and I had to grab my phone and snap this shot. Yeah, it's totally mean of me, but I really don't care. And I know my friends and family who are reading this would never, ever leave their house with a statement on their ass. C'mon!

He's Brilliant!

As I was posting the blog entry below, Maximus was busy in the kitchen.  He discovered two additional magnetic surfaces besides the refrigerator!  That's my boy!

Wheels

Who cares about riding bikes when you can flip them over and play with the wheels instead?

To the MAX

As I tell Maximus so often, it takes "Max muscle" to be such a strong little boy. (We saw this today as we left the store)
And here he is demonstrating his Max Muscle in his abs:

Quiet...

I was watching the Today show this morning, Jackie was on my lap and I was enjoying my cup of coffee this when I noticed how oddly quiet the house was. When it's quiet, I expect that Handsomer is into something he shouldn't be. I got up and started looking for him and found him in his big tote of balls in the corner. He's so cute. I think he likes little closed spaces, kind of like a fort.

Happy Fathers Day!

Happy second fathers day honey! I love you more than you'll ever know and you're the best dad to our amazing son. Maximus truly adores you and you know why (clinging to you when you come home from work, using you as his jungle gym, playing football in the backyard, helping you fix a car, cuddling with you in bed, biting you as he climbs, etc.) and I also absolutely adore and cherish you.

And happy fathers day to my father and all the others out there.

Pictures From my Blackberry

I don't know why I never send photos from my phone to my blog. I have a Blackberry and it's pretty much like a mini laptop. Anyway, here are a bunch of photos from it:

The Greek Norsky
Tired eyes

Double dodo
It was the smallest little "hurt" ever, but Jesse insisted on a bandage

My daughter
Doesn't he look like a 9 year old?

My Dream Came True

I've been buying Baked Frito Lay products lately. I know they aren't healthy simply because they are baked, but when I want to eat a chip, I don't have to feel as bad. I love Cheetos and ever since I met Katie Shane in high school, I fell in love with Flamin' Hot Cheetos. Thanks, love! I know you're reading this! Remember the days of Flamin' Hots, Dr. Pepper and early morning LDS seminary?! Anyway, I found these online...and I can't wait until they are available at a store near me! And Shane, (I know you're Roundy now), if you find some, mail me 20 bags!

Dodos

We have to purchase replacement dodos every week because the baby shark actually rips them!

The Cost of Night Night Suits

I don't know why, but I've insisted that Maximus wear full zip-up suits to bed. You know, the Carters ones that have built in traction on the feet. I'll admit, it's really hard for me to let go of Maximus' babyhood and putting him in suits nightly is part of that. Max has really bad diaper rash right now and I decided to let him sleep in airy "bummies" (pajamas). They help so much! And the cost?! We were spending close to $20 per suit before. And we'd buy about 6 of them at a time and then he would remain that size for a month or so. Anyway, I found this set at Target yesterday and it was $6! Just $6! I can tell he is more comfortable in them too. Go Target! (And they're not made in China either!)

Boy Toys are Cooler Than Girl Toys

If you were a little boy, of course you would want a truck! Jesse and I were looking for the original "Cozy Coupe" online last night and he found this on littletikes.com. I guess many other parents think it's pretty rad since it's on back order. If you have a kid, do not go to that site. I could easily spend $1000 a week on all the old school toys I had as a child.

Our Day in the Grandest of Islands

Today Maximus and I had to go back to Grand Island for a tuxedo and dress fitting. Since the drive is close to two hours long each way, I decided to take Maximus to the playground and library while we were there. Man, it was hot and humid. It was 97 degrees and close to 90% humidity. Poor kid was so excited to visit his favorite library and playground, but he got overheated. Then a tornado hit Grand Island after we left!

Check out his calves! This red face is the sign that it's time to go.

We realized tonight that heat + carseat + diaper + diaper rash = misery. He's been dealing with a diaper rash for a while, but tonight was the worst I hope to ever see it. I won't go into details, but it hurts him so much that he actually shakes. We've tried everything! From prescriptions to home remedies, nothing is helping. I've decided that he'll only wear a diaper tomorrow only when we go to the store. He's going to sport big boy underpants around the house all day. Does anyone have any suggestions? Any and all are welcome.

So we get home, eat the dinner that's been cooking in the Crock Pot all day (super healthy and simple: chicken breasts simmered in two jars of Pace medium picante sauce and a can of organic corn. Mmm! It just pulls apart and it's heaven!) and we go into the garage in preparation for our evening walk. I grab the wagon and see a gigantic spider on the ground. Jesse came out and said it was the size of a silver dollar. Freaking spiders! Enough already! Sickening! Baah!

Why?

Turn up the volume on your computer so you can hear what he's doing.

Did You Know...

Most of your life is spent within 5 feet of a spider? I refuse to believe that one. Kind of lame, but gullible people like me fall for stuff like that all the time. I read that online while I was trying to figure out what kind of spider this is:
This morning I went out to the garage to fetch birdseed for my feeder that hangs out front. When I hit the button and the door started to open, I could see a very tall spider on the ground. I was on the phone with my mom and she witnessed my fear firsthand. I grabbed a bottle of windshield liquid and placed it over the spider and ground it into the cement. I looked under the bottle and the spider was dead in his smashed worthless guts. Get this: I went out to the garage a few hours later and opened it from the inside. As the door opened, I saw another spider of the same size standing in the same place! I ran inside to grab the camera, but when I got out there, he ran away. Now I have to rest knowing that there's a King Kong sized beast out there. On my way inside, I saw this one near the door. I don't know if it's a common house spider or what. The pictures I've come across are unclear. I think having the mentality that every spider is out to bite people is good, because it keeps me on my toes. Stupid worthless pieces of sh!t.

Helping Dad

Jesse mowed the lawn this evening and for the first time EVER, Maximus helped him! He actually followed him and tried to do what Jesse was doing. I thought Max would be three when he did this so of course, I fought back the tears. I can't find words to describe how precious it was.

Here's Handsomer checking on the lawn. If you click on the picture, you can see pieces of grass stuck to his face.
Listen up, fellow mothers of boys...invest in a pair of Keen sandals. They're all terrain, high quality, boy-proof summer sandals they'll wear daily. Your kid doesn't need a day to adjust to them and they'll never get blisters. Max is the king of "stinky feet" and they don't smell at all in these breathable sandals!

IT'S A BABY PULLING A GROWN MAN!

Poor Jesus, he's only like a foot taller than Maximus.

They Grew!

Check out how much they've grown! Here's a picture I took today...

And here's the picture I took a few weeks ago after I planted them.

Christy, I have three on one plant and four on another!

Is it Mothers Day Again?

Sunday morning was rad. I got to sleep in and Jesse took Maximus to the store to get a few things for breakfast. Jesse making breakfast every Sunday is a little tradition we have. I just hung out in bed and watched tv with a cup of coffee while they were gone. They came back with TWO bouquets of flowers! Then Jesse made me Greek eggs. AND whole wheat french toast! He's so sweet! Greek eggs: tomatoes, onion, feta, kalamata olives, bell pepper and mushrooms scrambled together with eggs. What a guy!

That evening we went over to DJ and Ashlie's house. We grilled and had fun. Here's Maximus working on his abs again.

Here's Jacqueline trying to kill Hank.Maximus after a chocolate granola bar. The look on his face is classic.

"Home Sweet Home" Invaders

We came home from dinner and pulled into the garage. Our garage leads to our laundry room which is inside of our house! It could have gotten in! Jackie and Max would have played with it! I'm pretty sure I heard this thing running around in our garage. I screamed and Jesse stepped on it. I hate spiders and no matter what anyone tells me, there's no use for them and the world would be a better place without them. And Jesse, my love, thinks it so funny to tell me there's a spider in my hair after seeing this. Ass hole.

Fair Baby

When Handsomer was born, the nurses in the hospital called him the "fair baby".

This afternoon as we waited around for Jesse to come home, Maximus was having "HT's" (hard times) all over the place. He seemed bored. He refused his lunch, kept chasing Jacqueline, purposely threw his toys into the garbage can and it seemed that he was doing things to get my attention. I finally said, "hey bud, do you wanna play outside?" He actually squealed and ran to the back door. I opened it and he ran around giggling. It's 86 degrees here and like, 90% humidity. Not the ideal comfort level. We stayed outside until he turned purple. He's so damn fair that he turns colors! Thanks Jesse! If it's warm outside, his face turns bright red after a few minutes. Oh, we dip him in sunscreen! Here's a picture I got of his redness. And he does have visible eyebrows when he's not bright red.

And here are a few others I got. He looks like a 4 year old in some of them!

Cute

I did some ironing this morning and had to take a picture of Maximus' shirts next to Jesse's shirt. He's growing up and they're almost the same size.

Basil Thief

Something is eating my basil! I won't use pesticides or chemicals on my little plants, but I need to do something. I ate a leaf of it today and it's actually tasty basil! Obviously, because something else is also eating it.

And oh my god! Things will actually grow! When I planted my little friends, I honestly didn't think they would make it through the night. But after watering and sunshine and my obsessing, they're coming along! And thank you Christie for taking a picture of your tomato plant. We should have a contest...

Sunscreen Wipes

Baby Silk wipes are the best out there. Expensive, yes...but totally worth it if you have a kid. You can wipe them down from head to toe and the best thing is that they don't smell of sunscreen! These wipes smell so good! For my other mom friends out there, it's mdmoms.com
